The sun will come out tomorrow. That’s how the song goes, doesn’t it? The sun will come out tomorrow – what an optimistic way to look at your troubles. It really is the perfect metaphor. When we’re struggling and in the darkest place it can feel overwhelming, like the dark is overtaking you and making it hard to breathe. You can’t see anything around you and anything could be lurking in the dark. And at the deepest part it can be hard to see the light up ahead, to see any light at all, actually. But “it’s always darkest before the dawn”.
The sun is something that’s always constant. You can always count on it coming up in the east and setting in the west. That doesn’t change. EVER. It will always happen. Even if you can’t see it, even if it’s hidden behind dark rain clouds. You know it’s always there. Take comfort in that, in its constant presence. You may not always see it but you know it’s always there, fighting to get to you.
If you wait patiently, just a little longer and keep your eye on the horizon, by gosh you’ll find that song had it right. You’ll find that sun will begin rising before you know it, bathing you in its warm glow and touching your heart with its long, golden fingers. Don’t you give up, okay? The sun’s coming. The sun WILL come out tomorrow… You wait and see.
